TAIYUAN, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- The third Pingyao International Film Festival will begin global collection of screenings in March, according to the organizing committee.
The film festival is scheduled to be held from Oct. 10 to 19 in Pingyao, a 2,700-year-old city and a World Cultural Heritage site in central Shanxi.
With director Ang Lee's special authorization, the festival is named after his film "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon." It aims to promote films produced in the non-Western world including China, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa.
The film festival was initiated by Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke and film historian Marco Muller in 2017.
