BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for more technology innovation and proper utilization of new media in China's media development.
Huang Kunming, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, on Tuesday visited a 5G media lab set up by the China Media Group (CMG) that was formed last year by merging China Central Television, China National Radio and China Radio International.
Huang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, demanded efforts to further promote media convergence.
Having watched 4K HD live videos transmitted via the 5G network and other innovative products using the 5G technology, Huang said the 5G media lab, in line with the current technological revolution, enjoys "promising prospects."
He urged the CMG to ensure that their 5G-related products are well-tested, perform stably and meet the public's demand for high-quality TV programs and a better visual experience.
The CMG has succeeded in trials of live transmission via the 5G network in 12 cities.
