GAZA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Israeli war planes launched on Sunday night an airstrike on a military facility belonging to Hamas' armed wing al-Qassam Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip.
The medical sources said no injuries were reported, while security sources in Gaza said the military facility was completely destroyed in the Israeli airstrike.
The Israeli war planes carried out the airstrikes on military facilities and lookout posts in Gaza for the second day in a row, according to security sources.
The Israeli media reported the airstrikes on the military posts and facilities as a response to the release of dozens of arson balloons from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip into Israel.
Shortly before the airstrike, dozens of Palestinian activists demonstrated in the northern Gaza Strip, where they burned tires and threw sonic bombs at the Israeli soldiers stationed on the border with Gaza.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, told reporters that four demonstrators were shot and wounded.
The demonstration is part of the ongoing Palestinian Great March of Return rally aimed at breaking the 12-year Israeli blockade on Gaza, which started on March 30, 2018.
According to Gaza health ministry officials, Israeli forces have killed at least 260 Palestinians, and injured more than 26,000 others since the beginning of the anti-Israel rally.
