MANILA, March 4 (Xinhua) -- A flight instructor and his female student-pilot survived without injuries after their trainer plane crash-landed in a rice field in Talavera town in Nueva Ecija province of the Philippines on Monday.
Police said the two were piloting a two-seater Cessna plane from Lingayen, Pangasinan province when the engine conked out midair around 7:35 a.m. local time. The plane was headed for a roundtrip to Cabanatuan City and back to Lingayen, police added.
The trainer aircraft was on its way back to Lingayen when it went down, police said.
Police said the two persons were unharmed after the accident and were rescued and brought to a nearby hospital for medical check-up.
The place of the incident has been secured by officers from the local police station and the Bureau of Fire Protection.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the accident is now being investigated by its Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB).
