A flock of Grus grus are seen within the Agamon Hula Ornithology and Nature Park in northern Israel, on March 7, 2019. Every year, hundreds of millions of wintering birds migrate from Europe to Africa by way of Israel. The Hula Valley in northern Israel provides the passing birds with a relatively warm and humid environment as well as sufficient food sources. However, agricultural production in the Hula Valley was threatened by a large number of birds that fed on the crops. In the 1990s, the Agamon Hula Ornithology and Nature Park was established under the joint commitment of local farmers, Israel's agricultural authorities, and wildlife protection organizations. With bird-feeding spots designated within the park, it is possible to supply food to birds on their migratory routes while doing no harm to nearby croplands. The Agamon Hula Ornithology and Nature Park has since gained popularity as a bird-watching paradise. (Xinhua/Guo Yu)
