BEIRUT, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Saroj Kumar Jha, regional director for World Bank Middle East Department, said on Monday that the World Bank will increase its support for the health sector in Lebanon.
"We will support the health sector in Lebanon with projects that cover a greater number of the population," Jha was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.
Jha's remarks came during his meeting with Health Minister Jamil Jabak.
Jha insisted that the World Bank's money which will be given to the ministry must be spent properly while calling upon the minister to accelerate the projects that will be implemented with the World Bank.
Meanwhile, Jabak asked the World Bank for support in equipping public hospitals with new medical equipment.
"We will be working in close cooperation with the World Bank which can continuously supervise our work," the minister said.
