MACAO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Visitors arrivals in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in February reached 3.54 million, up 15.5 percent year-on-year and 3.5 percent month-to-month, the SAR's statistics service said on Friday.
Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that in February the number of overnight visitors (1.51 million) and same-day visitors (2.03 million) rose by 8.2 percent and 21.5 percent respectively year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.0 day.
The number of visitors from the Chinese mainland increased 11.9 percent year-on-year to 2.56 million, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme (1.46 million) increasing by 4.2 percent. Visitors from the Chinese mainland came primarily from Guangdong province, Zhejiang province and Hubei province.
The number of visitors from the Hong Kong SAR (658,030) grew 31.1 percent year-on-year and that of visitors from South Korea (86,179) grew 20.3 percent.
Analyzed by means of transportation, visitor arrivals by land soared by 30.9 percent year-on-year to 2.58 million in February, with 19.7 percent (508,709) of them entering via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Visitor arrivals by air grew by 23.5 percent year-on-year to 331,441, while those by sea decreased by 23.7 percent to 634,556.
