YANGON, March 23 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar government has appointed U Myint Maung as the chief minister of southern Tanintharyi region, according to an order from the President's Office issued late on Friday.
U Myint Maung, the region's minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, will replace former chief Minister Daw Lae Lae Maw who was sacked on Monday and arrested on charge of corruption along with three local company officials.
Meanwhile, two region ministers from the Taninthayyi region also resigned as a follow-up.
