MOSCOW, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights is an "open demonstration of permissiveness," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.
"This demonstration of permissiveness, along with threats, ultimatums and sanctions, represents by and large all the tools the United States uses on the international political arena," Lavrov said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya, southwestern Turkey.
Russian Foreign Ministry published the footage of Lavrov's remarks on Facebook.
On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, territory Israel seized from Syria in 1967, which has not recognized by the international community.
The Israeli parliament passed a law in 1981 unilaterally declaring sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The UN Security Council passed a resolution in December 1981 declaring the Israeli decision null and void.
