BEIRUT, March 29 (Xinhua) -- British Ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling said on Friday that Britain will provide 800,000 British pounds (1.04 million U.S. dollars) to March Lebanon, a non-governmental organization working on conflict resolution in Lebanon's Tripoli.
"The move aims at encouraging March Lebanon to implement more social projects in Beirut and Tripoli which works on peace building and conflict resolution in these areas," Rampling was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.
March Lebanon is popular for its unique initiatives to help mediate between the youths of Beb El Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen in northern Lebanon, two feuding neighborhoods ravaged by sectarian conflicts.
The NGO enabled youths in Tripoli to rebuild hundreds of stores that were destroyed by sectarian conflicts.
"I saw hundreds of stores that were destroyed by sectarian conflicts but they have been renovated due to the NGO's initiative while employing over 250 youths," Rampling said.
