CARACAS, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Rafael Dudamel has decided to remain head coach of Venezuela's national team, less than two weeks after offering to resign, the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) said on Monday.
Dudamel, who has held the position since 2016, said he was willing to step down for political reasons after the team's 3-1 friendly win over Argentina on March 22.
In a note published on Twitter, the FVF said the 46-year-old former international goalkeeper had changed his mind after meeting with officials.
"The national coach and his staff will remain focused on their next commitments: the 2019 Copa America and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers," the federation said.
Venezuela will begin their Copa America campaign against Peru on June 15. The Vinotinto will also face hosts Brazil and Peru in the tournament's group stage. Enditem
