SUVA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Fiji Parliamentary Reporters' Handbook to guide journalists was launched in Suva, the capital of Fiji, on Wednesday in the presence of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and members of Parliament.
While officiating at the ceremony, Media Industry Development Authority of Fiji Chairman Ashwin Raj said there is a fine balance between freedom of expression and the responsibilities that come with it for reporters.
He said members of the media now have guidelines on how to report accurately, fairly and impartially on parliament sessions in Fiji.
The handbook elaborates on freedom of speech, the role of the media, Media Code of Ethics, rules of Parliament and Parliamentary reporting, Parliamentary Privilege, the mechanics of Parliament and the sources of news in Parliament.
