AMMAN, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Jordan said on Friday that it was following up an assault against a Jordanian citizen in southern Israel.
Sufian Qudah, spokesperson of Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that an Israeli national assaulted the Jordanian who works in Eilat in southern Israel.
The Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv is paying attention to the Jordanian citizen's conditions and dispatched diplomats to follow up the attack, he added.
The Jordanian was reported to be in a stable condition and was receiving treatment in an Israeli hospital.
The Jordanian official said that the ministry will take all necessary legal actions to deal with the incident.
Jordan and Israel are signatory to an agreement that opened the door for Jordanians to work in the city of Eilat on the condition that they return every day to Jordan's Aqaba.
