AMMAN, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and China's telecommunication giant Huawei on Sunday signed an agreement to establish three academies in Jordan to enhance skills of young Jordanians in the field of technology.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2019 that was held at the Dead Sea area in the presence of Jordanian and Chinese officials.
Under the deal signed between the two sides, three academies will be established in cooperation with three public Jordanian universities.
Around 3,000 Jordanian students and public sector employees will be trained by the academies over the next three years.
Huawei will also work with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to realize Jordan's vision in e-education, e-healthcare and smart cities.
Minister of ICT Muthana Gharaibeh said Jordan's future lies in technology, adding that cooperation with Huawei will enable the ministry to train talented Jordanians.
The partnership with Huawei will make Jordan an advanced hub in the field of ICT in the Middle East, said the minister.
