NEW DELHI, April 12 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and nine others injured, some critically, Friday after a minibus collided head-on with a lorry in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
The accident took place on the main highway near Tanakallu, Nallacheruvu Mandal in Ananthapur, 485 km southwest of Amaravathi, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
"Today a lorry collided head-on with a minibus here killing five on spot and injuring 11 others," a police official posted in Anantapur said. "Of the 11 injured, two more succumbed in hospital taking death toll to seven."
According to police officers, the injured were admitted at a local government hospital and undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case to ascertain the reason behind the collision.
