BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- A national performing season of acrobatics will be held in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in July.
The performances will be original productions that debuted after 2015, said the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in a statement earlier this week.
China has held nine national acrobatic performance contests since 1984 but, due to policy changes, this year's event will not be competitive, the ministry statement said.
Acrobatic dramas will be included in the event for the first time, the statement said. The previous contests only allowed acrobatic dances and magic shows.
Provincial culture and tourism departments and national art troupes will recommend excellent productions to the ministry by the end of this month.
