DHAKA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- With made-in-China devices, a leading Bangladeshi internet service provider (ISP) has launched a new service branded as "Broadband360°" aimed at keeping customers secure in the online world.
By offering self-content filtering integrated into the broadband service, BDCOM ONLINE LIMITED, said its "Broadband360°" package, first of its kind in Bangladesh, encompassed Ultrafast Safe Broadband Internet, Eco Friendly Phone, IPTV, VOD and many other services.
"We've tools for parents to control unwanted content and provide a safe Internet," said SM Golam Faruk Alamgir Arman, managing director BDCOM ONLINE LIMITED, during a meeting with the members of Telecom Reporters' Network of Bangladesh (TRNB) in Dhaka on Tuesday.
He said their cutting-edge made-in-China devices help filter contents and create a safe environment for children to surf the web.
Based on the current endeavors of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina government to realize "Digital Bangladesh" and with its efforts of years together, the ISP said it is now possible to spark the nation with the service of "Broadband360°".
"Any guardian can manage the Internet in a safe manner from his or her home or office using Broadband360°," said the BDCOM managing director.
The new service also help corporate customers improve workplace productivity and reduce the consumption of unwanted content, he added.
Officials said Broadband360° will be available in all digital screen types like Laptop, Desktop, Smartphone, Tablet, Smart TV, etc.
BDCOM said a Wi-Fi Router will be the main frontier to enable the Safe Internet of Broadband360°, where more or less 57 categories of content filtering are now available. For example, Pornography, Violence, offensive ads, Hate talks, Drugs, Gambling, Piracy, Weapons, Phishing, Extremism, even social media can be filtered when required.
"We've designed Broadband360° in accordance with our social responsibility, ethical business practice and for the greater protection of our next generation from the vicious effects of violence & pornography in digital media," said BDCOM managing director Arman.
Gazi Zahedul Kabir, BDCOM'S head of system Integration, said parental controls not merely keep kids safe online but also helps service providers meet industry regulated compliance requirements.
Kabir said last month they launched the state of the IPTV (Internet Protocol television) service in the country as the first company.
With the existing internet and voice-based internet telephony services and all these packages together will be called "Triple Play Service," said Kabir, also a general manager of BDCOM.
The ISP officials, however, showcased the made-in-China devices including the Wi-Fi Router which they are using for its "Broadband360°" service.
