BERLIN, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Wolfsburg rescued one point on home soil after John Anthony Brooks scored the late equalizer against Frankfurt at the closer of the 31st round on Monday.

Wasteful Wolfsburg almost concluded the 31st round empty handed but John Anthony Brooks cancelled out Jonathan de Guzman's opener against the run of the play in the closing period.

The "Wolves" took over control from the starting whistle and kept Eintracht Frankfurt's defence busy as Wout Weghort's effort had to cleared off the line from Makoto Hasebe before Admir Mehmedi and Yannick Gerhardt tested goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

The "Eagles" reaped their first opportunity of the game with 34 minutes played when Goncalo Paciencia headed just wide of the target from promising position.

However, Wolfsburg remained the more active and dangerous team as Mehmedi unleashed another shot on target before Weghorst's turn shot forced Trapp into action once again just before the break.

After the restart, both sides staged a slow start into the second half as it took Wolfsburg 12 minutes before Robin Knoche rattled the woodwork following a corner.

Wolfsburg controlled the proceedings on the pitch and got almost rewarded in the 64th minute when Maximilian Arnold rifled the ball to the left post.

Frankfurt remained hapless but they were able to break the deadlock against the run of the play as Jonathan de Guzman capitalized on a rebound from Filip Kostic to slot home left footed from close range in the 78th minute.

Wolfsburg remained unimpressed and rallied back in the dying minutes of the game after Felix Klaus' build-up work allowed John Anthony Brooks to restore parity.

The US international should have grabbed the late winner but Brooks' header missed the target just wide moments later.

With the draw, Eintracht Frankfurt remain on the fourth place and is on course for a berth in Europe meanwhile Wolfsburg stay ninth position of the standings.
