JAKARTA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Alfian M. Fadjri, an Indonesian athlete who recently won an international sport climbing competition in Chongqing, China, said on Monday that he would defend his title in the upcoming World Cup series slated for May 3 to 5 in China's Wujiang.
"My target is to defend my title that I earned in Chongqing. I realized that defending is much harder. I know that capability of athletes contending in the upcoming World Cup is almost equal. That is why I must train harder for that," Alfian said here.
Alfian earned the title for the category of men's speed in the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Championship held in Chongqing, China from April 26 to 28.
The 22 year-old Indonesian sport climbing athlete clocked 5.970 seconds to win the title in the event on Saturday.
In the final match, he defeated Ukrainian athlete Kostianyn Pavlenko who came up as the runner-up with 6.310 seconds.
The third position was taken by another Ukrainian athlete Sergey Rukin at 6.808 seconds.
