SHANGHAI, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The instantaneous passenger flows in many popular tourist destinations in Shanghai have reached record highs during the four-day May Day holiday that began Wednesday.
The eastern metropolis features various museums, theme parks, ancient river towns and modern urban landscapes, which draw a huge number of tourists from across China and abroad.
As of Thursday afternoon, the real-time tourist flow of Zhujiajiao ancient town hit its maximum receiving capacity. At the same time, the Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Natural Museum and Shanghai Science and Technology Museum have all seen visitor flows exceeding 80 percent of their historical extremes.
According to Lvmama.com, a Shanghai-based online travel agency, Shanghai Disneyland and Shanghai Wildlife Park are among the most popular tourist destinations in China during the holiday.
Shanghai has introduced 70 cultural and recreational activities for the holiday, including urban sightseeing, folk customs, natural scenery and countryside tourism.
Ctrip, China's largest online travel agency, estimated that about 160 million trips will be made during the holiday.
