RIO DE JANEIRO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Second-half goals from Eduardo Sasha and Carlos Sanchez gave Santos a 2-1 home victory over Fluminense in the Brazilian Serie A championship on Thursday.
Sasha sent a sublime first-time effort in off the post after Rodrygo's cross fortuitously rebounded into his path off Fluminense center-back Nino.
Santos doubled their lead eight minutes later when Pituca's long-range effort cannoned off the bar and into the path of Sanchez who made no mistake from eight yards.
21-year-old striker Pedro pegged a goal back for the visitors, coming off the bench to score for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury last September.
Santos are one of only three unbeaten teams after two rounds, alongside Atletico Mineiro and Sao Paulo. Fluminense have had two straight defeats.
In Thursday's only other match, Botafogo secured their first win of the campaign by overcoming Bahia 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium in Rio.
