GUANGZHOU, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Trade volume between the city of Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, and Macao jumped to 485 million U.S. dollars in 2018, up 40.9 percent year on year, local authorities said Tuesday.
The boost in trade volume between Guangzhou and Macao would bring more opportunities for the cooperation and development of the two sides, Lei Weiju, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangzhou, said at a press conference regarding a promotion activity of Macao.
As of March, Guangzhou has 430 projects invested in by Macao, with an investment of 681 million U.S. dollars, while Guangzhou has set up 23 enterprises in Macao, with total contracted investment reaching 199 million U.S. dollars, according to Lei.
A promotion activity featuring Macao will be held in Guangzhou on Thursday, according to the organizer, saying that more than 200 booths will display Macao's food, costumes, household supplies, technological products and products from Portuguese-speaking countries in a 5,000-square-meter exhibition hall.
Six business negotiations will be held during the exhibition.
