BRUSSELS, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The "Ink Brussels 2019", an event combining conferences and workshops in a broad range of fields touching on contemporary ink and Chinese calligraphy, has kicked off here in the Belgian capital.
The week-long event, which opened on Monday, shows the public the new concept of "world experimental calligraphy" and art in painting, and provides visitors with the opportunity to engage with invited artists and scholars.
It brings together a variety of Chinese bookmakers and painters who use ink and paper as the main media to create.
Lu Xiaohong, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of the Free University of Brussels (ULB), and coordinator of the event, said: "We are co-sponsoring this event to build a bridge between Eastern and Western arts, creating an opportunity for Chinese artists to communicate and have dialogue with Western counterparts."
