NEW DELHI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in India's eastern state of Odisha due to cyclone "Fani", which hit the coastal areas last week, has reached 43, official sources said on Saturday.
The most number of deaths were reported in the religious town of Puri, followed by six deaths in Cuttack town, five in Khordha, four in Jajpur, four in Mayurbhanj and three in Kendrapada.
According to a state government statement, livestock casualties were over 3.4 million, while 16 million people were adversely affected by the cyclone.
A large numbers of trees were uprooted resulting in disruption of road connectivity. Khordha and Bhubaneswar city have been severely affected, it added.
Road clearance and restoration work in some of the districts, including Bhubaneswar city, was still underway, the state government statement added.
