NANNING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region saw its foreign trade volume reach 148.72 billion yuan (21.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first four months of the year, up 28.8 percent year on year, according to the customs authorities of Nanning, the regional capital.
In the first four months, the foreign trade of Guangxi's private enterprises reached 95.56 billion yuan, up 86.1 percent while the foreign trade of state-owned enterprises in the region totaled 15.38 billion yuan, up 7.9 percent.
The region's trade with ASEAN, its biggest trading partner, saw an year-on-year increase of 11.9 percent to reach 70.79 billion yuan during the same period. Guangxi's trade with Vietnam reached 51.23 billion yuan in the first four months of the year.
Moreover, its trade with countries along the Belt and Road totaled 78.05 billion yuan during the same period, up 17.3 percent year on year.
In terms of trading goods, Guangxi has seen increasing exports of mechanical and electrical products, toys, plastic products and ceramic products during the period.
