KUNMING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- A new direct flight to link Taiwan's Taizhong City and Kunming City of Yunnan Province will open on June 26, according to the China Eastern Airlines' Yunnan office.

The company will operate the route two times a week on Wednesday and Sunday respectively, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The flight will take off at 8:30 a.m. in Kunming and arrive in Taizhong at 11:30 a.m. The return flight will depart Taizhong at 12:30 p.m. and land in Kunming at 3:50 p.m.

The company said the route would be part of the efforts to increase Yunnan's connectivity with Taiwan, as it has sought closer trade, cultural, tourism and educational ties with Taiwan over the years.
