BERLIN, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Current Holstein Kiel coach Tim Walter was appointed as new head coach for Stuttgart.
Walter has signed a contract through June 2021 after agreeing to join from the second-division club. The 43-year-old man had previously worked as a youth coach at Bayern Munich and Karlsruher SC.
"Tim Walter's idea of brave, attacking football fits Stuttgart brilliantly," said Stuttgart sporting director Thomas Hitzlsperger.
Thus far, Stuttgart finished third from bottom in the Bundesliga and faces a two-leg playoff against Union Berlin, which finished third in the second division, to determine which plays in Germany's top league next season.
