TOKYO, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as a weak lead from Wall Street overnight set a negative tone amid ongoing concerns about the future course of the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 83.11 points, or 0.39 percent, from Monday to 21,218.62.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.57 points, or 0.55 percent, at 1,546.35.
Electric appliance, mining and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
