WASHINGTON, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The United States will have their final tuneup match against Mexico on Sunday prior to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Since a rough start in January, the U.S. team has rebounded to a 6-1-2 record for the year, with five wins in a row.
The match against Mexico will be held at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. Mexico did not qualify for the World Cup in France.
The defending champion will open the World Cup group stage against Thailand on June 11 in Reims, followed by Chile on June 16 in Paris, and Sweden on June 20 at Le Havre.
The Americans and the Swedes are expected to advance from the group to the knockout round.
The US team has won the World Cup three times since the women's event was launched in 1991, more than any other teams.
