RIO DE JANEIRO, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo struck twice in second-half injury time to snatch a 3-2 home victory over Athletico Paranaense in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.
Inter Milan loanee Gabriel Barbosa opened the scoring for the hosts from the penalty spot before two goals in eight minutes from forward Marcelo Cirino put Paranaense on course for an unlikely victory.
But Bruno Henrique and then Rodrigo Caio netted in the 91st and 96th minutes respectively to hand Flamengo their third win from six matches this campaign.
The result at the Maracana stadium saw Flamengo climb to sixth, six points behind leaders Palmeiras while Paranaense slid to 11th with just seven points.
Meanwhile Corinthians defeated arch rivals Sao Paulo 1-0 thanks to a seventh-minute strike from Pedrinho at the Itaquerao stadium.
In other matches on Sunday, International drew 0-0 at Santos, Vasco da Gama drew 1-1 at Fortaleza and Bahia secured a 3-2 home win over Fluminense.
