NEW DELHI, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Intense heat wave conditions continue to prevail in most parts of India, as the temperature crossed 47 degrees Celsius in some regions on Thursday.
The maximum temperature of 47.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in the Ganganagar town in western state Rajasthan and Khujraho town in central state of Madhya Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the weather forecast, there will no respite for the people of Delhi in the next few days, with the heat wave likely to remain till next Wednesday.
The weather office predicted severe heat wave conditions in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. It has also forecast heat wave conditions in most parts of the country, with severe heat wave in isolated pockets over Rajasthan and the Vidarbha region in southwestern state of Maharashtra.
Heat wave conditions are also expected in some parts in states like Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Marathwada region in Maharashtra and in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
