BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- China's traffic management authority has called on travelers during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday to help create a good environment for the national college entrance examination, as the two events happen to overlap this year.
The traffic management bureau of the Ministry of Public Security issued a notice asking drivers planning to travel during the holiday to mind their driving and honking especially when they are near exam sites to minimize the disturbance to the exam takers.
It also suggested that holiday travelers avoid the rush hours of the exam traffic if possible.
The national college entrance examination, or gaokao, will run from Friday to Sunday, while this year's Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival and traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar, also starts on Friday.
More than 10 million students have applied to take part in the exam this year.
