JALALABAD, Afghanistan, June 8 (Xinhua) -- At least two militants affiliated with the hardliner Islamic State (IS) group have been confirmed dead as unmanned plane struck their hideout in Khogiani district of the eastern Nangarhar province on Friday, said an army statement released here Saturday.
Acting upon intelligence report, the unmanned plane pounded a hideout of IS outfit in Waziro Tangi area of Khogiani district Saturday afternoon killing two armed insurgents on the spot and destroyed the hideout and their arms and ammunitions, the statement asserted.
Militants loyal to the hardliner IS group who are active in parts of Nangarhar and the neighboring Kunar and Nuristan provinces are yet to make comment on the report.
