KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, June 10 (Xinhua) -- At least seven militants were confirmed dead as a clash erupted between security forces and Taliban fighters in Khakriz district of the Taliban former stronghold southern Kandahar province on Sunday, police spokesman in the restive province Jamal Nasir Barikzai said Monday.
In the clash which broke out in Shargi Durahi area of Khariz district on Sunday night and lasted for a few hours, 16 more insurgents sustained injuries, the official said.
However, Barikzai didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
The Taliban outfit has yet to make comments on the report.
