RABAT, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's compulsory military service for young men and women starts this year for the first time since 2006, the Moroccan Interior Ministry announced on Monday.
A total of 133,820 Moroccans filled the compulsory military service census forms, including 13,614 young women, at a percent of 10.17, who did it voluntarily, the ministry said.
According to the state budget for 2019, a total of 40,000 female and male citizens aged between 19-25 will do military service for 12 months.
The voluntary military service census took place from April 9 to June 7, 2019.
Regional committees will hold meetings since next Monday to finalize the lists of people who took the census and are likely to be summoned to perform the military service, said the ministry.
