LIMA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Chile-based midfielder Josepmir Ballon has been drafted into Peru's national squad for the Copa America in Brazil, the country's football federation said on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old replaces Konyaspor winger Paolo Hurtado, who suffered a fractured bone in his left foot during Peru's 3-0 home defeat to Colombia in a friendly on Sunday.
Ballon, who plays his club football for Universidad de Concepcion in Chile's first division, has not represented his country for more than three years.
The last of his 47 international caps came in a 2-2 home draw with Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier in March 2016.
Peru will begin their Copa America campaign against Venezuela in Porto Alegre on Saturday before meeting Bolivia and Brazil in Group A.
