KIEV, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) chairperson, minister of foreign and European affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajcak in Kiev on June 13, according to the website of the President of Ukraine on Friday.
Zelensky thanked the OSCE chairperson for the organization's active role in resolving the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president stressed that the ceasefire and the return of peace to Eastern Ukraine is his key priority and that Ukrainian civilians and soldiers are killed and injured nearly every day.
"The main goal for me is to stop the war, to achieve the ceasefire, to return the people taken hostages home," said Zelensky during the meeting.
Lajcak assured the Ukrainian president that OSCE will continue its work on building sustainable peace in Eastern Ukraine.
During his visit, Lajcak also met with other members of the Ukrainian leadership to explore steps toward a peaceful conflict resolution as well as ways to ease human suffering in Eastern Ukraine, reported the OSCE press service.
This is the second visit of Lajcak to Ukraine since taking over the OSCE chairmanship.
The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine started in April 2014.
