TIANJIN, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Police in north China's Tianjin Municipality has arrested 4,087 suspects of drug crimes since June of last year, the municipal public security bureau announced at a press conference Tuesday.
Tianjin launched a series of campaigns to crack down on drug crime in June 2018. They seized 35 tonnes of chemicals which can be used for making drugs, said Zhao Shaozhong, director of the anti-drug team of the bureau.
Drug rehabilitation work stations based in residential communities have been constructed in Tianjin since 2018. So far, 220 such work stations have been established with 718 professional personnel to help rehabilitate drug addicts.
To encourage the public to participate in the anti-drug campaign, the municipality has pledged to give rewards up to 300,000 yuan (about 43,600 U.S. dollars) to persons who report drug crimes to the police.
