JAKARTA, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will send 25 young players to the Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2019 slated for July 20 to 28 in China's Suzhou Olympics Sports Center, an Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) official said.
Among the Indonesian players were the ones that prevailed in the championships here last year and recent international championships, as well as the Malaysia International Series 2019 and Dutch Junior International 2019.
"The players assigned to play in the upcoming Asia Junior Championships resulted from our selection process that assessed their highest achievements, ratings and their potential. They are the best players at junior level," PBSI Sports Development Director Susy Susanti said on Thursday.
These players would vie in the mixed team and individual categories in the championships, she said.
In the championships in Jakarta from July 14 to 22 last year, Indonesia placed third in mixed team, next to China and Japan, and won the gold medal from the women's doubles pairing Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Ribka Sugiarto who overcame their Malaysian contenders Pearly Tan Koong/Toh Ee Wei.
