ATHENS, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Greek fire fighters recovered the body of a man while battling a wildfire at a landfill near Athens, Greek national news agency AMNA reported on Sunday.
The victim was found dead in a factory near the landfill of Fyli municipality, with no burn injuries. According to Fire Brigade sources, experts suspected his death was linked to the heavy smoke from the wildfire.
The blaze was continuing to burn mainly dry grass near factories, none of which were currently in danger, according to AMNA.
A fire also broke out on Saturday in the same area, but was quickly extinguished.
Greece suffers from wildfires every summer mostly linked to arson, high temperatures and strong winds or negligence.
A wildfire which swept through a seaside resort 30 kilometers east of Athens last July caused 102 deaths.
