JAKARTA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- An international tennis tournament for senior players is scheduled to be held in Jakarta from July 31-August 4, and will draw at least 300 veteran tennis players from several countries and regions, the tournament organizer said here today.
The upcoming tournament, entitled Baveti Indonesia Open 2019, offers a total prize pot of 12,000 U.S. dollars. The grade two event is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation.
The tournament is scheduled in the Elite Club Epicentrum, South Jakarta, and will include all age groups recognized by the ITF, he said.
"The age groups contended for men's singles and doubles are 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+. Meanwhile for women's singles and doubles, the groups are 40+, 50+ and 65+," he added.
Among the players confirmed to take part in the tournament were from Argentina, Ghana, Britain, China, China's Hong Kong, India, the United States, Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, Samudra said.
After being upgraded to grade two, the event is expected to give 120 points from the ITF, up from 40 points it awarded in 2017 at grade five.
