SEOUL, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Chen Meng claimed the title of women's singles after defeating her compatriot Ding Ning 4-1 at the 2019 ITTF World Tour Shinhan Korea Open in South Korea on Sunday.

This is the third title Chen Meng won this seaon and the win also promoted her to the top of the world rankings.

"To be world No. 1 encourages me a lot. It doesn't mean that I have become the best player. I still have a lot to learn from Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen, who are both very excellent players."

"I've always wanted to win this match and I'm glad that my efforts finally paid off," she added.

Chen Meng will next take part in the upcoming Australia Open and the National Championship.
