JAKARTA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's men double pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, who are struggling to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Japan, have pledged to play hard during the upcoming 2019 Indonesian Open in the country later this month.
The pair will face strong opponents in the tournament, but said that they have set a target of at least entering the semifinal.
"Our target now is to enter a semifinal, where many opponents have good performances and are young," Ahsan said on Tuesday.
In the first round, the fourth-seeded pair will meet British opponents Marcus Ellis and Chris Langride.
Despite having three victories against these opponents, Ahsan said that they will remain cautious.
After the 2019 Indonesian Open, Ahsan and Setiawan will take part in other international tournaments, including the Japan and Thailand Opens.
The 2019 Indonesian Open is slated to be played from July 16 to 21 at the Istora Senayan Sport Stadium in Jakarta.
The tournament is classified as 1000 category along with the All England and China Opens.
