CAIRO, July 18 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League on Thursday held Israeli authorities "fully responsible" for killing Palestinian prisoner Nassar Taqatqa inside an Israel detention center during his interrogation.
Taqatqa was held in solitary confinement, a matter that harmed him psychologically and physically, Saeed Abu Ali, Arab League assistant secretary general for Palestine affairs and occupied Arab territories, said.
He warned that such cruel Israeli measures will lead to the "slow killing" of the Palestinians.
He called on human rights organizations to play a humanitarian and legal role in protecting the Palestinians in line with international treaties as well as the Geneva convention concerning prisoners of wars and human rights.
Taqatqa, 31, was arrested on June 19 after Israeli forces raided his family home in the village south the city of Bethlehem.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Palestinian foreign ministry called for an international inquiry into the death.
