BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- "Looking Up," a new Chinese family drama, led the Chinese mainland box office on its opening day Thursday, China Movie Data Information Network said Friday.
The film raked in 62.03 million yuan (about 9 million U.S. dollars), accounting for more than 49 percent of the daily total.
It was followed by "Lion King," Disney's live-action remake of its classic, which grossed nearly 26.5 million yuan on its seventh day of screening.
"The White Storm 2: Drug Lords," sequel to the 2013 crime action film "The White Storm," took third place with a daily box office revenue of 23.95 million yuan. Its total box office was around 1.1 billion yuan.
