GWANGJU, South Korea, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands, Hungary, Greece and Australia advanced into quarterfinals in women's water polo of the 18th FINA World Championships here on Saturday.
In the round of 16 match, the Netherlands had a narrow victory over Canada 5-4, advancing to the quarterfinals.
Hungary pounded New Zealand 17-6, and Greece beat China 12-8 to qualify for the next round. Australia raced to the quarterfinals with an easy 13-3 victory over Kazakhstan.
Spain, Italy, the United States and Russia already punched their tickets to the quarterfinals by winning three straight games in group matches.
In the classification round to determine the 13-16th place, South Africa trounced the host team South Korea 26-3, and Japan defeated Cuba 21-9.
