HO CHI MINH CITY, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Two Vietnamese members of a drug trafficking ring that transported illicit synthetic drug from Cambodia have been arrested recently.
Customs officers at Moc Bai international border gate in Vietnam's southern Tay Ninh province have detected 8 kg of ecstasy hidden in children's jigsaw puzzles carried by a 38-year-old man named Han Quoc Khanh from Ho Chi Minh City in a bus, Vietnam News Agency reported on Sunday.
After his arrest and confession, relevant agencies arrested a 30-year-old woman from the city.
According to the Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
