BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday refuted intelligence threat allegations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) chief of the United States, saying China has secured its remarkable achievements through its own wisdom and hard work.
According to media reports, FBI Director Christopher Wray said that China poses a more serious counterintelligence threat to the United States than any other country, claiming that China is waging a war against the United States.
In response, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a press briefing that the relevant accusations by Wray are "totally groundless and self-deceiving."
Noting U.S. Secretary of State and former Central Intelligence Agency chief Mike Pompeo's remarks at a public speech in April that American advancement stems from lying, cheating and stealing, Hua said China follows a different path: no stealing, no looting and no lying.
"If we say China is fighting a war, then it is a just war in defense of its own legitimate rights and interests," the spokesperson added.
