YANGON, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar’s police have seized over 14.2 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) in Tanintharyi region, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Monday.
The seizure was made by the joint police force in Yay Phyu township late Saturday.
ICE worth over 568.16 million kyats (378,773 U.S. dollars) were found buried in a garden in the township, the committee’s release said.
Meanwhile, soap boxes filled with 2.4 kg of heroin worth 192.7 million kyats (128,480 U.S. dollars) were confiscated from a car travelling from Waingmaw to Myitkyina when the car was intercepted at a checkpoint in Waingmaw township, Kachin state, on the same day.
The suspects in connection with the cases were filed cases by the respective township police under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
