KUWAIT CITY, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait and Iraq are ready to strengthen cooperation in the field of security, the Kuwaiti interior ministry said on Tuesday.
The remarks were made during a meeting between Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid al-Jarrah al-Sabah and his Iraqi counterpart Yasin al-Yaseri on Tuesday, according to a statement by the ministry's information department.
Al-Sabah highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal ties binding the two neighbors and keenness of the leaderships to overcome all difficulties hindering their development, the statement noted.
They also reviewed security conditions in the region and means of activating coordination in monitoring land and sea borders and combating terrorism and organized crime.
Al-Yaseri expressed satisfaction with the discussion in the meeting, saying Iraq and Kuwait share a common ground over a host of issues.
